BIO
Matthew McCoy is a San Francisco-based comedian, actor, writer, director, and certified gay disaster with over a decade of experience in live entertainment.
Raised in the South and trained in musical theatre at Coastal Carolina University, Matthew spent years directing and choreographing award-winning productions across the US and internationally — from regional theatre in the Bay Area to large production shows in Shanghai. He served as Founding Artistic Director of Bay Area Musicals, an award-winning company that served over 30,000 patrons annually, and has held roles at Berkeley Playhouse and the San Francisco Dungeon (Merlin Entertainment).
Now he's doing stand-up. Because apparently that wasn't enough.
Matthew is currently performing at venues across San Francisco (Punchline, Function) and upcoming at the 18th Annual Asheville Comedy Festival, developing original material that pulls from his Southern upbringing, his very gay adulthood, and everything in between.
San Francisco made him gayer. Comedy made it worse.
